VW launched this model in 2002 to celebrate 25 years of golf production. The car is based on the mk4 GTI with the option of the 1.8T turbo engine (in 180BHP form) or the 1.9PD turbo diesel engine delivering 150BHP and bucketfulls of torque (236lbft !)

The only visual difference between the two models is the rear valence on the petrol model, which has a cut out for the 90mm stainless tailpipe. The diesel follows the VW norm of hiding its twin downswept tails behind the valence.
